On the other hand it is a goal of the EGSIEM project to profit from the combination of the monthly gravity field solutions of the different Analysis Centers, because model deficits and errors in the single products will average out. Therefore a wide variety of background models for the gravitational effect of ocean, atmosphere and solid Earth tides and short term atmospheric and ocean mass variations is encouraged. It was therefore decided, that each processing center is free in the choice of these de-aliasing models, so as not to produce a homogenized set of data with which to work.
As it set the ground rules for nearly three years of research, this was an important task at the start of the project and we hope to update you on how it progresses during the life of the project.
