The European Geosciences Union's General Assembly 2015 is just around the corner, and will give you a chance to meet the EGSIEM scientists in person. Last year, over 12000 scientists from 106 countries participated in the assembly, making it a diverse event where you can keep up with the latest progress in your field, but also have a chance to look over the rim of your tea cup: Besides geodesy, such diverse fields as Biogeosciences, Hydrological Sciences, Seismology, and Solar-Terrestrial Sciences will be represented.
The coordinator of our project, Adrian Jäggi, will tell you everything you want to know about EGSIEM in his oral presentation in the satellite gravimetry session on Tuesday , which is filled with interesting talks on GRACE, GOCE, and future gravity missions. Here is a sneek peak at one of the many posters that will be presented in this session: We study the impact of increasingly sophisticated processing strategies on monthly gravity field solutions, starting with a simple assumption of no correlations between data points. We then produce a covariance function for the satellite tracking and orbit data using variance component estimation, and use it in the adjustment process. Finally, we study the impact of co-estimating low-order daily gravity field solutions in a Kalman-filter approach on the monthly solutions.
We hope to see you at EGU in Vienna to discuss the results with you!
